Astrocene

(2024)

Astrocene represents the threshold of humankind as we journey toward the cosmos.

It begins with "Dynasty," which is a view of imperialist America as it seeks to not only rule the affairs of the world, but leave behind its name with items such as the Golden records on the Voyager spacecraft. "Nuclear Family" is about the alteration of social structures with the advent of the atomic and space ages. "The Right Stuff" pays tribute to the brave pioneers who would be the first to explore the unknown. "Inhospitable" represents the dangers and anxiety of trying to survive anywhere but Earth. "Filaments" examines the wonder of humanity as it begins to understand the macro and micro cosmos. "Space Race" criticizes the conflict between space-faring nations. "Far Beyond the Stars" makes the case that exploration of the universe will make the current petty struggles between us meaningless.

The Golden Hour

(2023)

The Golden Hour can be seen as a new beginning or the end.

The vast majority of the songs from this album came from a treasure trove of material that I originally composed in a period spanning from 2012-2014. I deliberately waited to do these songs until I felt I had the know-how to do them justice so that they could be heard in the way they sounded in my head. While I have also used material from this era in every other Lasidas release, this one is meant to finally put that era to rest so I can focus on the future. For that reason, this album took the longest to make and is also my longest album to date across all my projects.

Making this album also brought lots of nostalgia and anxiety along the way. It felt like I was saying goodbye to my youth, which can be a hard thing to grapple with. Therefore, it's best to look at this album as both the end of one chapter and the start of a new one.

In the course of a day, the golden hour is the most beautiful hour, as it is a time of transition.

Rumination

(2022)

This is a short narrative of my states of mind surrounding the primary period of the pandemic.

Rumination represents the year before

Deprivation represents the onset.

Isolation represents the year after.

Mosaic

Mosaic

(2021)

Soon after What We Know was finished, plans were already underway for a follow-up LP.

Armed with better instruments, software, hardware, and know-how on the production side of things, this is the album I always wanted to make since I first entertained the idea of being a musician when I was in elementary school, and the first time in my life that I was able to make things sound like they did in my head.

While What We Know thematically dealt with the idea that we are thrust into this reality with no instruction manual and it's basically up for us to determine what the rules are, Mosaic focuses on the more tangible and observable. There's exploration of current events, social dynamics, and an overarching tribute to the events that led to who I am today

Musically, lyrically, artistically, and chronologically, Mosaic is literally a mosaic of my musical and life journey. It's a range of my influences and a spectrum of my experiences. After finishing the recordings for the final track, I couldn't think of a more fitting title.

Perennial

Perennial

(2021)

Perennial is a collection of songs that attempt to capture the sentiment that accompanies the anticipation of a major change in one's life. The artist may be temporary, but the art is perennial.

What We Know

What We Know

(2020)

As the title suggests, this is an epistemological statement in musical form. Though the songs were written between as far as back as 2013 and the present, they all share a theme of trying to make sense of reality and the experience of being alive.
